Hello art lovers!
My name is Jillian, and I am an
artist working in Kure Beach, NC.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2009 with a Bachelor of Art in Studio Art and Art History.
Across all mediums, my artwork
is characterized by bold, bright
colors with attention to detail and
texture. I enjoy the challenge of incorporating unique and
unusual materials in my pieces
to express this focus on texture.
As an artist, I am most influenced
and inspired by the minor or craft arts
including quilting, embroidery, stained
glass, and mosaics. Specifically, the
emphasis on pattern and intricate
detail in these forms of art speaks
to my aesthetic.
As a student at UNCW,
I participated in several group exhibitions across campus. I received the Purchase Award in the annual juried All Student Show in 2009 for my watercolor entitled Breakfast. Additionally, I had an illustration published in a book of Flash Fiction
in collaboration with the creative writing department.
